The Corporations are buying out many local stations with the intent on getting national coverage for their advertising so they can make even larger profits and employ less people due to networking their programs. This also reduces the local content in each area to a minimum, all in the cause of “Globalisation” and a fast profit.
What defines Non-Corporate Radio is that the commercial aspect supports the creativity, it does not control it. This gives the Program Controllers/Presenters the freedom to be creative and to explore different avenues of expression bringing new and varied music to the listeners.
By supporting Non-Corporate Radio Stations, spreading the word and helping promote those stations who are trying to wrest back control of radio from Board Rooms and Accountants. You can take a stand against the demise of radio as we knew it and help put individuality back into radio again.
